Rattle Play

The girls are almost four months old. They are smiling alot. They really like it when they are on the changing table or taking a bath. They got two silver rattles from Aunt Carrie and Uncle Pat for their Christening.

The girls were christened on August 23rd at St. Luke United Methodist. We had a round 30 people come in town for the christening.

Brianna and Sophia have been playing with their hands alot and Brianna has figured out how to get her thumb in her mouth (oops).

They are sleeping well in their own cribs and eating well (most the time).

Play Dates

The girls have had 2 play dates in their 9 weeks. The first with Dayton Dix's on July 7th. Dayton is in the middle; Sophia is on the left and Brianna is on the right. They had a blast... can you tell.

The second was on July 22nd with two other sets of twins. The Gaysers are on the far left then in the middle is the Ortega Twins (B/G) and on the Right is the Kimball Twins (G/G).

The girls are so social... 9 weeks old and already making lost of friends.

Catch up

Here is the most recent picture of the girls on their 8 week birthday. I am going to try to continue taking pictures with the bear to use as a reference point. Sophia is in the green and Brianna is in the purple.

They are getting some belly time now and working on their head strength. They have their two month appointment next week where they are going to get some not so fun shots.

We have started painting their toe nails Pink (Sophia) and Purple (Brianna). We had said that Sophia was a little bigger than Brianna but Brianna has played a good game of catch up and some days they flip who is the heavier one. It is never more than a couple of ounces but with them still being under 8 lbs you can see the couple of ounces

Here are some earlier pictures of the girls from their first couple of weeks.

Birthday - May 20, 2009

At 9:00am we started our voyage into parenthood as we left for St Luke's Hospital. What a lovely day it was today, sunny and warm about 80 degrees already.

Sophia Marie Gayser was born at 12:38pm, weighing in at 5 lb 2 oz, and 17 inches long. She came out crying but quickly calmed down. Brianna Mae Gayser was born at 12:39pm, weighing 4 lb 14 oz, and also 17 inches long. She too came out crying and she kept crying for a while while Sophia laid next to her not quite sure if she also needed to cry or was just crying because her sister was crying. Either way, it was a chorus of crying and had everybody in the OR cracking up! Jeremy was a bit in shock when called over to help clean them up but he did and loved it! There would be no passing out today! Brianna's blood sugar was a little low, so they had to give her a few sucks of formula and it worked. Within an hour both babies were with Denise in the recovery room where they stayed for a few hours.

Now we are all upstairs in our private room relaxing. Both babies are doing their best at trying to feed, they are close to figuring it out, maybe tomorrow! Brianna is watching the basketball game with daddy, she looks very interested :)

Denise is very sleepy but is doing great. Jeremy is on a few cups of coffee and just changed his first diaper. So far we are shooting for a Saturday departure, let's cross our fingers!

36 Week Appointment

Sophia weighs 5 pounds 11 ounces and is in the 29% (good for twins)
Brianna weighs 5 pounds 12 ounces and is in the 30%

Neither of them like being upside down so C-section will be the way of delivery. I am now officially on the books for May 20th if they do not decided to come before then. Dr. Dryden thinks there is a 50% chance that I will make it to the 20th as I am already 3-4CM dilated and 80% effaced

35+ weeks and still waiting

So the girls should be now over 5lbs each. We will find out on Thursday with our next ultrasound what they are exactly (10% error range). - Assuming they wait on our appointment- They have gotten more active, either that or since I have rolled off my client and am working from home I notice their activity more.

The Houston newspaper just reported something that I knew for a long time - the Ike Baby Boom. I am technically due June 11th. I think it is cute but we are already seeing the impact on wait list at day cares. Oh well it is nice to have so many other ladies that I know pregnant at the same time. See the story below for them Houston Newspaper

Nursery Done and 32 Week Appointment

So this past weekend we got ourselves into high gear and finished the nursery. Here are a picture of it.
The Quilts and Bumpers were made by Jeremy's Grandmom and he's Aunts.
The Flowers above Sophia's crib are the flowers from our wedding.
Currently the framed quilted work above Brianna's crib is fabric from Denise's Grandma Kanning. This is a place holder until we get some other items that we will have framed to go above her bed possibly their baptism bonnets and some items from Jeremy's childhood.
The video camera in the middle actually will scan both cribs and was a gift from Denise's work (very nice gift)
We still have a couple of loose ends of things that we need to do like have a test run of installing the car seat etc.
At my last Doctor's appointment the girls were 32 weeks and they said that both the girls were just under 4 pounds each so they are growing pretty quickly.

31 Weeks and Counting

My last visit to Dr. Dryden she has told me that I have to drink 100 ounces of water a day. So much water not enough time in a day but I do my best each day. Last week the girls were both over 3 pounds each and are continuing to get bigger each week.

Dr. Dryden said my goal is to make it to 36 weeks (May 14th) and she won’t let me go past 38 weeks (May 28th) because of the additional health risks to both myself and the girls. I guess that means we are in final count down now.

24 weeks and all is well

Just got back from a visit with Dr. Kirshon. I am 24 weeks (third trimester starts at 26 or 27 weeks) pregnant now and the girls are still doing great. The placenta has found its way north so that is very good and there is still no sign of TTTS.

Baby A weighs 1 pound 5 ounces and is head down on my left side
Baby B weighs 1 pound 7 ounces and is head up on my right side
This is within the normal range so all is good

They are both very squirmy especially in the evening.
I have found that Baby A does better with taking pictures. I did not want to post the last ones because I only had a cute picture of Baby A and was hoping Baby B would smile for the camera but she was shy again but Baby A was ready for her close up.

Let's Start Kicking

So last night Jeremy and I were hanging out watching Lost and I had him hold his hand over my belly to see if he could feel the little girls moving around. Well it wasn’t more than a couple minutes when one of the girls gave a nice little punch that we could both feel.

I don’t think there is any consistency to how much or when they move around so I don’t know if I can start my kick counts yet but that will be a good question for Dr. Dryden when I see her on the 3rd.

Half Way There!

We had a doctor’s appointment this past week on the 16th. I was 19 weeks and 1 day. My placenta is moving its way north so that is good but still considered low. Both girls are measuring great and there is no sign of twin to twin transfusion.

They completed checking for all the body parts but we did not get any good pictures. I think he had so much to do with measuring everything on both of them that he did not have time to get the girls to smile for the camera so no picture to post.

I thought asking Dr. Kirshon to let me go to Dr. Dryden every other week instead of him so I did not have to have so many doctors at one time was going to be a bit harder to get approved but he was OK with the plan so now I am back to having an appointment every other week instead of every week.

I am opting not to post belly pictures although I am taking them because I have passed this blog site out to work folks also and don’t want pictures of my belly floating around the office.

I have started to feel movements but not enough for Jeremy to feel yet but I assume when the kicks are strong enough for him to feel they will also be strong enough to keep me from my sleep that I like so much.

Since I won't go to 40 weeks (twins don't usually let you go that long) I am setting 37-38 weeks as my goal (May 23rd would be perfect for their arrival date -My Birthday: June 23, When Jeremy Proposed: Nov 23rd, Wedding Date Sept 23rd) and anything after 36 weeks is good for the girls. So 19 weeks is half way to 38 weeks.

17 Week Visit - No Gym for you!

Sorry there is only one picture to post this time but I only got a good picture of Twin A Sucking her thumb (I will scan in shortly). Twin B was breach and not playing well with the camera. Dr. Kirshon did some of the anatomy scan this time where he measured both of their long bones and checked their tummies and other pieces and parts. He confirmed that the two girls from last time stayed girls (we had to double check). He also said that both girls were measuring almost 7 inches (this is total length were in the pregnancy books they normally give head to rump) and they weigh about 7 oz each. There is still no sign of twin-to-twin-transfusion so really good stuff. Only problem is that my placenta is pretty low but he is hoping that is will shift up as I move along in pregnancy.

I was very proud of myself because the scale was finally moving in the positive direction so I was hoping I could start working out again soon, but Dr. Kirshon right before we were about to leave said "you aren't working out are you" I said no because I was working on gaining weight and waiting for that to happen before I started back working out. He said that he does not want me to workout at all for fear of preterm labor with the low placenta and all...DARN IT!!! Oh well it is just for 4-5 more months. I just paid my annual gym membership dues too.

I see Dr. Dryden next week and back to Dr. Kirshon the following week. (Weekly doctor visits is very time consuming)
