So the girls vocabulary is starting to grow more and with that they they are telling me "Mommy, stop talking" when I am in the middle of a conversation that they want no part of. "Mommy, hear me" when they are saying something (or singing) and they don't think I am listening. They still say 'Longer, Longer' when they either want more milk, want their chair pushed in further or something is not close enough.
We are also working on potty training. Only wearing diapers at sleeping time and the girls get stickers when they are successful. Eventually I will have to stop the stickers but for now it is working.

Happy Halloween
The Gayser Girls were butterflies for this past Halloween. I was a little unsure how it was going to work out with them going trick-or-treating, but they LOVED it. They would run up to a door and both knock on it while saying 'knock. knock'. once someone answered they would say trick-or treat then were delighted to receive something in their bag. They did not care so much what it was that they were receiving but that they were in control of the situation that they could do something and make other people have a known response. We most have
done 25 houses before it got too dark and we had to go home. Even then the girls wanted to hand out candy. The surprising thing was that neither girl asked to actually eat any of the collect candy more that they just wanted to know that they had acquired it.

I need AIR, Mommy!!
So this evening Brianna has spilled a little water on her shirt while we were mixing dinner in the kitchen and got a little upset. The typical solution to this would be 'to let the sun dry it' but the problem was that 'the sun had gone to sleep' and the moon would not be any good at drying a wet shirt. I suggested to let it air dry. But Brianna looked at me like I was a little crazy. So I started explaining what air was and that it is all around and that we breath it to live and with out air we would die. She nodded and said 'uh hu' in agreement the whole time. The after we were finished with our cooking it was obvious that this conversation stuck. Every 5 min Brianna would get a very serious look and say. MOMMY, I NEED AIR!! Like she was lacking it at that moment and might not make it unless I fixed the problem. Each time i explained that she had air because it was all around.

Quiet!!!
So recently the girls are alot more interactive and will do things together but sometimes like when playing drums on the coffee table or barking like a dog one of the girl will want a solo so will shout 'Sophia ONLY', Brianna then stops barking/banging or whatever to let her sister have the solo but shortly there after 'Brianna ONLY' is yelled and it is Brianna turn for a solo. On an occasion this has been said to Mommy as we sing twinkle twinkle little star. 'Mommy Stop. Brianna ONLY'. We are going to work on manners in this house shortly.
The other morning I could hear one of the girls starting to move around and they will sometimes sit in bed and read a book until they are really ready to get out. At about 7:15 (usually exit is 7:30) Brianna starts calling out 'Mommy, get out' (i.e. mommy come get me out of this crib') and starts to cry a little. Then Sophia stands up (I can see this from the video baby monitor) and points at Brianna saying 'Brianna Quiet!!!, Brianna Quiet!, Stop crying!' with a very authortative voice. I showed Jeremy the conversation as they continued the dialogue for a good while..'Mommy, out!' 'Brianna, Quiet!'
I know Sophia is the older of the two but only by 1 min. Does that really mean she will still be the bossy one?

Brianna and Sophia talk
Here are some of the things the girls are saying now
Poke-a-lots = poke-a-dots but there are usually a lot of them so I see where they get if from
Last time = once we have told them we are done with a specific activity that they want to keep doing
Buckle safety = the their is a seat belt they must have it buckled. I guess there are worse things in the world
Bri-nana = this is an improvement to say Brianna from Nana but the girls can say Julian, Madeline, Gayser, Hippopotamus ...Brianna not so much.

Self - Love/Hate
As the girls enter their 2's they are increasingly becoming more independent (or so they think) they want to do things them self. It is very cute to see them try to buckle their highchair belt themselves and they get very upset if you try to intervene or provide assistance. Most of the time this is very cute although time consuming but as a mother when I see them struggle with it and start to get frustrated I want to jump in to help. Doing so just makes them more upset. Also when we are trying to get out the door and they want to put their shoes on by themselves. this will take much longer but I know if I help a full out, on the floor, fit is going to follow. the word they use to let you know that they want to do it them self is simply 'self'.
We have also learned that when we say "do you want this" for a number of items it can be interpreted as the name of that item is 'this'. Later in the day when they are calling for 'this' there is no way to tell what 'this' it is. Lesson learned use names of items i.e. "do you want this, the magna-doodle, or this, the crayon to color with?

Come on!
Now that the girls are starting to speak more and putting words together, we are starting to notice things that we say more. An example of this is Sophia has started saying 'Daddy, come on!' and now i have taken notice of when i say that phrase and realized it is pretty often. From 'Girls, come on lets brush our teeth' to 'Jeremy, serously, come on, did you really just do that?'
I have also realized that when I tell the girls we will do something after nap time such as go to the park the moment they wake up the first think they say to me when I walk in the room is 'Mommy, Park' I guess I have to make sure I am up for the park when I say we will do these things.

Easter 2011
The Gayser Family woke up to find easter baskets with candy...I was very suprised when they just sat down and started eating the candy with their bunny ears on.. how cute. Next we had our breakfast and got ready for chruch. Everyone got dressed and to church then back to the house for lunch and some back yard golf followed by nap time and Easter dinner then some play time at the neighborhood spash park and then back to the bunny ears for teeth brushing and bed. Shweeew..long day!

And the Winner is 'Uncle Mac'
So this past weekend we drove up to Hornbeck, Louisiana for the Graham (my Fraternal Grandmothers side) Family reunion. What you don't know where Hornbeck is...don't worry or GPS had a hard time finding it also. While at the reunion someone made the comment that the girls get their red hair from Uncle Mac. I asked the question "who is Uncle Mac?" to which I got some very odd looks..."why that is your grandfather, Denise" .."my grandfather's name is Cubby not Mac...oh wait...McFerrin. Is that why you call him Uncle Mac?" ding ding ding. Well turns out he was a ginger also but we never knew it because he and my grandmother divorces when my father was young (she does not talk about him) and he passed away before any of us were born. The only pictures of him that we have are black and whites so there was no way to tell. But mystery solved. Guess the red hair did not come from the mail man after all.

22 Months and growing

The girls are more fun each and every day. The first couple of weeks where I was working from home the girls were not sure of what to expect and if I was home they did not understand why I was not playing with them They now understand that when Mommy goes in her office she is working and they will play with Ms. Lorana. It has even gotten to the point where a couple of times I have come out to get a refill of coffee and the girls although initally excited to see me will then tell me 'mommy - work' and point to my office. Then will look at Ms. Lorana and say 'park?' . Yes boss, I will go back to work. :)
They love our new 'park' in the back yard but we have to keep the blindes closed at breakfast or they will not eat and just say they want to go to the park.
(the picture above was on St. Patty's day. Brianna has the Pok-a-Dot bow)
