Independent Play
The Girls have started more independent play where they will go to the play room and do an art project for almost a full hour. This is wonderful on the weekend when Jeremy and I have things we need to get done. The problem with this showed its self this morning when Sophia was so excited to work on their art project that she got her sister up. They both got up went to the play room turned on the light and started their project without needheling help. The problem is...it was 5:00 AM (they usually sleep until closer to 7.

Guess who?
The girls are getting older and more aware of the fact that they look similar. This has become a game where they will intentionally wear the same outfit when we have company to test their ability to distinguish who is who. When uncle joe and aunt Bridget were in town recently they went on the mission to challenge them. After bathing they selected the same pajamas and came into the living room to start the game. The issue with the execution of the game came in their discussing logistics :
"Sophia, stand over here". " Brianna , turn around " " ok, now we are ready".
They are also liking telling jokes but are working on execution.
Our next house guest are in for a world of entertainment :).

Bike ride
This past weekend was the first time that the four of us each got on our own bikes and went for a long bike ride. Prior to this the girls had been in ibert (kid seat that attached to our handle bars. we loved these from when the girls were 18 months to almost 4)- see picture below
Well now the girls are bigger and have their 'big kid bikes' we thought we would go for a family ride to the park. This turned into a trip around the lake. then we had to find 2 tunnels to ride in. On the way back the girls were very tired. The full circuit was about 3 miles. needless to say the girls slept great that night.
While we were on the bike ride, Sophia noticed that in the hustle of us leaving the house with waters and bikes and all both Jeremy and I forgot to wear our helmets (we are strong supporters of helmet wearing in our family) When she noticed this we were already at the first park so she called Jeremy and I over in a very stern voice. She then explained that she was not happy with us for not we wearing our helmets and that we needed to go in time out for 3 min for us to thinking about how dangerous it is to not wear our helmet. She also had a conversation to me asking if I wanted her to call the police man to take me home because I was not being safe. (this probably was a mix of things we have told her when she did not want to wear her seat belt in the car.

Houston Rodeo 2013
The girls took a trip with MayMay and Daddy to the Rodeo earlier this week to go to the actual show but today I was able to take off work and bring the girls to see all the other stuff the rodeo has to offer.
I was a little nervous about what the crowds would look like so we discussed the girls each having my phone number written on the arm (under their long sleeve shirt) and that if they ever got lost from me they would find a police man or information guide and ask them to call their Mommy. (luckily we did not need to use it but I did not realize how the number gave the girls soem security as they refused to wash it off at bath time and were very careful to not get it wet or soap on it- this will be a challenge for another day). Back to Rodeo Day -There was a bit of a snag on finding parking but luckily I gave us plenty of time to get there for when the AgVenture opened. The girls enjoyed the petting zoo. That is until the animals started to think their clothes were food.
After the petting zoo we made our way past the Texas Longhorns to the birthing center. There was a pig that was giving birth to little pigglets next to a set of 13 pigglets that were born the day previous. The girls must have stayed for 30 mins glued to both the babies and the mom.
After that we moved outside to watch some Mutton Bustin (the girls have requested to do this when they are older), the Pig races. We then went to grab some burgers and found a place to sit. Where the girls wanted to sit for lunch just happened to be next to where 'The Cutest Show on Earth' was about to preform. They both got selected. Sophia to be a fancy dancer and Brianna although they asked her to be a fancy dancer with her sister selected to be a cow instead.
